What to expect in Guizhou?

Guizhou is home to 48 Chinese ethnic groups, second only to Yunnan, each of which have developed their own unique customs and cultures. Among them, Miao and Dong minorities are the two biggest groups in Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture. Starting your journey from Kaili and moving onwards, you will see villages of different minorities one after another along with amazing natural sceneries.

Many traditional festivals are also celebrated among different ethnic groups each year, which attract a lot of travelers from far away. When a festival is hosted, they dress up, prepare a lot of festival food and celebrate it with rich activities, such as singing, dancing, trading and all kinds of competitions. Should you take our private guided tours to Guizhou you may want to try on their traditional dress and join in with the festivities.

When is the best time to visit Guizhou?

The climate in Guizhou is often mild and moist, neither extremely hot nor cold. Although the best time for taking Guizhou tour packages is during late August, spring (March-May), summer (June-August) and autumn (September-November) are all wonderful seasons for sightseeing. During these months, you can also expect to experience traditional festivals such as Sanyuesan Festival and Sister's Meal Festival in spring, Liuyueliu Festival in summer, and the Shui New Year Festival in autumn. The best seasons for visiting Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun are summer and autumn when the scenery is the most splendid.

Each attraction had a unique highlight and on this 5-day Guizhou tour, we learned some Miao minority’s culture and tried their unique costume for taking photos.

The 4-star hotels were not excellent as those in the big cities’ like Beijing and Shanghai, but we still experienced a comfortable and good-quality service. All in all, thanks for helping us undergo such a memorable Guizhou minority experience!

We visited some villages inhabited by minority people like Miao and Dong people. The guide was well informed, sharing with us lots of histories and customs with great enthusiasm and dedication.

My friends and I were all happy to learn more Chinese culture on this 8 days Guizhou tour!

We booked an 8 days in-depth Guizhou tour on Travel China Guide last year. The guide was from ethnic minorities and spoke English very fluently and clearly. She shared us with lots of their folk cultures and local historical stories. She was amiable, interesting and experienced in arranging our route and adjusting the schedule according to the changeable weather. We were also very pleased with her service of reminding us of the matters needing attention!
